Our products are handmade in Ghana using authentic traditional methods or handmade in Patricia's kitchen. We visit our women's cooperative in Ghana regularly to monitor quality standards and every single product is quality checked before despatch.
Shea butter is a superb ingredient for the skin and hair. It contains high natural levels of vitamin A and E that have many healing and moisturising properties. Shea butter is extracted from nuts from the African Shea tree. Unrefined Shea butter is full of vitamins, antioxidants and essential fatty acids that is great for dry skin and hair. Regular use of Shea butter can help skin conditions such as eczema, stretch marks, blemishes, wrinkles, itching, sunburns insects bits and other skin conditions. Refined Shea butter which is extracted through a chemical process is usually colourless, odourless and has significantly reduced healing properties.
Shea Olein / Shea Butter Oil
Shea Olein is obtained through the fractionation of shea butter, separating the liquid (Shea Olein) from the solid, Shea butter. Just like Shea butter, Shea Olein, moisturises, softens and nourishes the skin. It has all the properties of Shea butter and is highly effective for retaining the elasticity of the skin and can help slow down the skin’s cellular anti-ageing degeneration. It is extremely recommended for skin conditions like stretch marks and helps protects the skin against sunburns.
Coconut Oil also known as copra oil is a semisolid, edible oil. It is extracted from the kernel of the coconuts fruit. As a well-rounded ingredient, coconut oil nourishes and moisturises the skin. it provides a deep long-lasting moisture to the skin and hair and can helps kick-start collagen production to reduce wrinkle formation. One of the main active ingredients found in coconut oil is a fatty acid called linoleic acid, which is an omega-6 fatty acid that has anti-inflammatory properties. Coconut oil is quite versatile and can be used to clean the skin especially makeup under the eyes.
Baobab oil is one of the most prominent oil for dry, damaged skin. It is extracted from the seeds of the Adansonia tree (popularly called the upside tree, because it looks as though it is growing roots upwards) and is mostly found in Africa. It is an excellent moisturiser which absorbs quickly into the skin without clogging it. It helps the skin to restructure and heal itself. Baobab oil contains Omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids which contribute towards maintaining a healthy skin.
Sunflower oil is a non-volatile oil which is extracted from the seeds of sunflowers. It is commonly used in cooking as well as apply to the skin and hair. Sunflower oil contains a high level of vitamin E, A, C and D which is essential for repairing and maintaining the skin. It helps to retain moisture in the skin which is extremely beneficial for people who suffer from the dry and dehydrated skin. Because of its light nature, it absorbs quite easily into the skin and penetrates deep to nourish skin.
Arnica oil is the number one oil for relieving pain, aches, sprains and bruises. The oil is extracted from the Arnica Montana flower which is mostly found in Europe and North America. The Arnica montana oil is known to possess medicinal properties especially anti-inflammatory properties which can help with skin concerns like acne, rosacea, itchiness, redness, and sunburned skin. Arnica oil can bring the much-needed moisture to layers of the skin.
Aloe Vera Juice
Aloe vera juice is a gooey, thick liquid made from the leaves of the aloe vera plant. The plant grows abundantly in tropical climates. The juice is a rich source of antioxidants and vitamins that help protect the skin from UV radiation, hence preventing fine lines and wrinkles formation. It is rich in vitamin C, E and beta-carotene which gives its nourishing and anti-ageing qualities. It can help to reduce the frequency and appearance of acne and skin conditions like psoriasis and dermatitis.
Cocoa butter is a pale-yellow, edible oil extracted from cocoa beans. The tree is mostly found in areas around the equator especially in countries in Africa and Asia. It is a natural healing oil for dry and sensitive skin. It is rich in antioxidant which helps to protect the skin against external factors. Cocoa butter is mostly known for smoothing scars, wrinkles, stretch marks and other marks on the skin because of it high content of vitamin E. Regular use of it can help improve skin elasticity.
Crambe Abyssinica Seed Oil
Crambe Abyssinica oil is a natural seed oil that comes from a mustard plant. The plants are native to the Mediterranean region. Crambe oil is well known for its high content of Erucic Acid which closely mimics as the human sebum. It can, therefore, control the overproduction of sebum which causes acne. It penetrates into the outer layers of the skin and deeply nourishes the skin to protect it from dehydration. It has an abundance of both Linoleic acid and Omega 6 fatty acid which is helpful for skin regeneration.
Calendula oil is an effective remedy for dry skin. It is distilled from the petals of the pot marigold, a species of flower native to southern Europe. It has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties that can help speed up the healing of wounds, minor cuts also relieve insects bites. It is known to improve skin firmness and hydration and has great benefit for skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis. Its natural restorative properties infuses the skin with a youthful glow and helps to protect the skin from premature ageing and thinning of the skin
Neem oil is a vegetable oil extracted from the fruits and seeds of the Neem tree. The evergreen tree is found in the Indian subcontinent and other tropical areas. It has an aspirin-like compound that helps to rid the skin of bacteria. Its anti-inflammatory properties help to reduce skin redness and inflammation. Neem oil is high in fatty acid and can help prevent and treat scars and acne. It is also rich in vitamin E which can rejuvenate the skin’s cell and restore skin elasticity.
Palm Kernel Oil
Palm Kernel oil is derived from the kernel or nuts found inside the palm fruit from the species of the African palm tree, commonly referred to as tropical oil. Similar to coconut oil it has many skin benefits. Palm Kernel oil is loaded with antioxidants which can prevent the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also provides protection against harmful UV rays and other toxins and harsh weather conditions. It is known to help with dry itchy skin and can restore skin elasticity.
Sweet Almond Oil
Sweet Almond oil is derived from the sweet almond nuts that most people love to eat. The Almond tree is mostly found in the Middle East, Indian subcontinent and North Africa. The oil is an excellent moisturiser for dry, sensitive skin. It is primarily composed of olein, linoleic acid and glycosides. It is also rich in protein, vitamins D and E and other minerals that are considered to be nourishing and revitalising for the skin. It helps heal dry, chapped skin and irritated skin. It can help with problem skin like acne, psoriasis and eczema.
Hazelnut oil is extracted from Hazelnuts, which is also called the filbert nut or the cobnuts. The tree is native to east and central europe, with turkey being the largest producers.. It contains a high content of catechins and tannins which makes it an excellent oil for skin that suffers from breakouts. It is rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids which can help reduce the appearance of scar tissue. It has astringent qualities that help to tone and tighten the skin. It penetrates deeply into the skin and stimulates the circulatory system.
Hemp Seed Oil
Hemp seed oil is extracted from the seeds of the Hemp plant, typically found in the Northern Hemisphere. It is an incredibly nourishing oil for the skin and will firm and tighten skin. It provides a powerful antioxidant activity to help promote beautiful skin. Hemp seed oil is rich in fatty acids which helps to hydrate and soothe inflamed skin. It helps alleviate and soothe skin conditions like dermatitis and eczema. It also adds elasticity to the skin and helps restore moisture to dry, damaged skin.
Rice Bran Oil
Rice bran oil is extracted from the germ and inner husk of rice. Filled with antioxidants, vitamins B and E, It has wonderful deep moisturising capabilities and helps to protect skin. It contains natural squalane which is known to help the skin look younger and fresher. The oil has anti-inflammatory properties which helps to soothe and calm irritated skin and help skin conditions such as eczema. It is great for wrinkles and tightening of the skin and know to be the best anti-ageing secrets for Japanese women.
Grapeseed oil is extracted from the seeds of grapes, typically wine grapes. It is well known for its potent antioxidant activity which helps to battle free radicals to prevent premature ageing. It contains anti-inflammatory, anti-carcinogenic, antiviral and antibacterial properties and believed to help in skin repair. It has antiseptic properties and is mildly astringent which helps to tighten the skin. Because it contains linoleic acid it is great for skin problems like acne, eczema and dermatitis. It helps to restore collagen and its vitamin E component helps the skin to stay smooth and firm.
Avocado oil is extracted from the fruit avocado. This oil can penetrate deep into the skin to hydrate dry and flaky patches. The antioxidants in the fruit helps to detoxify the skin and help reduce the appearance of wrinkles. It contains vitamin C which is much needed for the creation of elastin and collagen to maintain skin firmness. It is high oleic and monounsaturated fatty acid which maintains moisture in the epidermal layer of the skin helping to keep it soft and hydrated.
